This is a song I wrote about a bad break-up in college. I have performed it acoustically for years. I always thought it should be "plugged in". Thanks to my long-time music buddy Michael Mollenhauer who played lead guitar on this song, it's now recorded the way I have always heard it in my head.

Lyrics

Snow was falling lightly
As I turned from your door.
The silence of early morning
Sayin’ I won’t be back no more.

You thought it was perfect
I just couldn’t make you see
There’s a lot of space between what I am
And what you want me to be.

You thought you knew me
Always knew just what I’d do
Why were so surprised
When I said we were through

Don’t chain me to your rainbow
Don’t tack me to your wall
If I can’t be myself with you
I just won’t be around at all

We’ve learned from our time together
I’m sure that you’ll agree
You don’t change people into what you want
And I just learned to be me.

All that’s left are memories
The bitter and the sweet
I hope you see that I’m not the guy
To make your life complete

Don’t chain me to your rainbow
Don’t tack me to your wall
If I can’t be myself with you
I just won’t be around at all
